It’s exciting times here at afO! God is moving and things are happening! Our mission is to impact our culture for God through the arts, and we’re getting more and more opportunities to do just that.
What has been happening recently has reminded me of stories of the early days of all for One. The five friends who founded the organization said, “We’ll give it nine months, and we’ll see what God does.” Well, God brought them gigs and bookings without even having to look for them. They got phone calls out of the blue, and all for One was born.
The same kind of thing is happening now! People are approaching us and asking about working new programs together. First Missionary Church has partnered with us to launch STAGE: Supporting Theatre as a Growth Experience, a new after-school drama program, at Harrison Hill Elementary. The first session began October 29. Around 15 students in third through fifth grade meet for one hour and 10 minutes after school on Tuesdays for eight weeks. A second eight-week session will begin in January. The students are learning theatre basics, and they are also learning faith basics. Each theatre lesson is accompanied by a Bible verse and biblical teaching. This is a program we would love to expand into other schools as well.
We are also partnering with Easterseals ARC to provide theatre classes for the participants in their day programs at their facility. We are working with them and shaping what a program like this would look like and how we can best serve their participants.
While these exciting things are coming to us, we are also facing some challenges. The building that houses our offices and storage for costumes and props is being sold, and we need to find new space. We also need to hire more staff so we can fully accomplish the amazing opportunities that God has been bringing to us.
So many things are coming together and confirm for me that God is not done with afO! We have so much to offer the community, but we can’t do it without you. Please, as you are considering your giving this year, I invite you to partner with afO by giving a meaningful gift so we can move forward in the good work God has for us in the Fort Wayne community.
